Slow Progress

Hey! Leo here. We’ve been working on the Redemption round video and got some good progress on it, but aside from that work has been focused on the next networking alpha and BIOME alpha.

But I want to discuss something different that we often don’t ear about I’ve been unproductive lately. And although I’ve been going through a lot in my personal life, supporting a sick family member and going through some other personal hardships I’m not willing to discuss publicly, which is always a more than okay reason to be slacking at work, I’ve been feeling conflicted about my output.

The project is also at a weird crossroad where a lot is changing, and there are many potential directions to pursue, but every direction requires us to make binding decisions that each have long-term ramifications. And contiguous to what I’ve been saying, I haven’t felt I was in the correct headspace to make some of these difficult decisions and have been putting them off for later. This is particularly true for BIOME, where we’re still hard on the development of the core framework that’s going to be powering the whole future of the simulation… anyways. All that to say that I’ve been slacking off a bit, and feel bad about it ahah.

Regardless, it’s very amazing to see that I’ve started a project that can continue chugging along by itself, even when my personal failings and life drama translate to reduced involvement. And honestly, sharing my situation with the patreon community was met with so many messages of support that it helps a lot feeling better about things like that.

Thank you all! And thanks a lot for your support and interest in the project. I know hardships are temporary, but it’s always incredible to receive so much overwhelming reassurance. It’s one of the joys of my life and I consider myself very lucky
